You Bet: Cesc Will Be Fab For Barca And How Will Arsenal Do Without Their Talisman?

New Barcelona signing Cesc Fabregas is rated a 6/4 chance by William Hill to start more league games for Barcelona than the talismanic Xavi (1/2). The bookies are also offering odds of 10/1 for Fabregas to make more league appearances for the Blaugrana than his idol and current Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola (263).

“Fabregas has taken the number four, the same number that Guardiola wore at the Camp Nou and it will be interesting to see whether he surpasses the achievements of his once idol and current mentor,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

The former Arsenal captain is rated a 12/1 chance to score against the Gunners this season and the same price to play again for the North London club before the end of his career.

“Arsenal made Cesc into the player that he is today and it is feasible that he could well turn out for the Gunners again before the end of his career,” said Crilly.

Hills are also offering odds on Cesc’s number of league starts for Barcelona this season and the number of goals he’ll score for the defending champions this season.

With Cesc out of the door at the Emirates, Hills think that a mass exodus may have been sparked and offer 1/2 that Samir Nasri is sold before the end of the transfer window and 15/2 that Robin Van Persie is.

Arsenal have to take on Udinese without Fabregas now and William Hill have priced up where they will exit the Champions League. They are 5/2 to go out to the Italians and 9/4 to exit at the group stages. They are 20/1 to win the competition.

Wenger To Go To War With City Over Nasri

News reports suggest that Roberto Mancini has hardly endeared himself to his opposite number at Arsenal over a perceived lack of respect relating to Samir Nasri. Hill’s feel that Mr. Wenger’s suspicions may have weight to them, offering 8/13 that Nasri’s next club is Manchester City, while they go 6/5 about him moving to the red side of Manchester.

“The continuing saga surrounding Nasri’s future has turned ugly with the odds suggesting that he may well be turning out in the blue of City before too long,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Hills are also offering betting on where the two clubs finish following Arsenal being pipped into fourth by City. The odds indicate that City will finish higher than the Gunners once again with Mancini’s men odds on at 8/13 to finish in the top two and 1/2 to finish above Arsenal.

William Hill Mancini vs Wenger Odds:

Samir Nasri Next Club: 8/13 Manchester City; 6/5 Manchester United; 8/1 Chelsea; 25/1 Real Madrid; 33/1 AC Milan

Modric Staying But You Bet Downing Won’t

Aston Villa have stated that Stuart Downing is not for sale although William Hill think that he WILL have gone come the first game of next season, offering 4/6. Liverpool are the main contenders for his signature at 1/4 while Arsenal are 6/1. Luka Modric, however, does not now appear to be on the move, with his odds of leaving Spurs drifting to odds against for the first time since Chelsea lodged their interest (to 5/4). He is now 4/7 to remain at White Hart Lane by at least the first game of next season.

“Both the Spurs and Villa chairmen have come out and stated that their star men are not for sale, but the odds certainly suggest that while that may be true in the case of Modric, it is quite another story for Downing,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Sunderland have been the most active side in the transfer market so far and Hills are betting on where the Black Cats will finish. Despite the additions to their squad, they are 11/8 to finish 9th to 12th. They are 66/1 to finish in the top four and 2/1 to finish in the Europa Cup spots (fifth to eighth). Should Sunderland have a patchy start to the season, Steve Bruce could be out of a job and he is 4/1 to have left by the end of the season and 10/1 to be the first manager to leave his job.

With criticism being directed at Arsenal from all angles, William Hill make them 4/7 to finish in the top four, 5/4 not to. “Arsenal may well be odds on to finish in the top four at the moment, but these odds will drift still further if more star Gunners decamp,” added Crilly.

William Hill Odds:

Stuart Downing next permanent club: 1/4 Liverpool; 6/1 Arsenal; 10/1 Tottenham; 25/1 Sunderland

Stuart Downing to be gone before the 1st day of next season: 4/6 yes; 11/10 no

Luka Modric to be gone before the 1st day of next season: 5/4 yes; 4/7 no

Will Steve Bruce still be at Sunderland by the last game of the season: 1/7 yes; 4/1 no

Sunderland finishing position: 66/1 top four; 2/1 fifth to eight; 11/8 ninth to 12th; 9/4 13-17; 10/1 relegated

Will Arsenal finish in the top four: 4/7 yes; 5/4 no

Tevez Backed To Stay At Eastlands As City Odds On To Bag Third

Following his brace against Stoke City, Carlos Tevez has been backed in to 5/6 to still be at Manchester City on the first day of next season. On the day before the FA Cup final, he was 2/5 to move over the summer although his public pledge to stay at Eastlands has seen a marked gamble at William Hill on City’s skipper staying. Carlos Tevez is 5/6 to be this season’s Premier League top scorer, while Dimitar Berbatov is the same price. City are 4/9 to beat Arsenal to 3rd in the table with the Gunners 13/8 to get the final automatic Champion’s League spot.

“Despite suffering a two month goal drought this season AND being out injured for six weeks, Tevez goes into the last day of the season with every chance of winning the golden boot and in firing City into third has more than proved his worth to the club,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Premier League Odds:

Finish Third: 4/9 Manchester City; 13/8 Arsenal

Carlos Tevez to be at Manchester City on the first day of next season: 5/6 Yes; 5/6 No
