Bookies Relief After Treble Trouncing But Still Fear Double Trouble!

Bookies were celebrating Manchester United’s defeat to Manchester City. William Hill had seen the odds of United winning the treble backed in from over 100/1 to 6/1 and were facing a seven figure payout had they done it. 11 years ago, Hills had their worst ever football payout when United bagged the treble, but can sleep easily now that they are out of this year’s FA Cup. United are 3/1 to win the double
City are now the 2/5 favourites to win the tournament.
“As the season progressed, United to win the treble was backed in from 100/1 to 6/1 under the weight of almost £100,000 worth of bets,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “We will not be waking up in the middle of the night worrying about the treble, but the double is still a danger.”
Following Paul Scholes’ red card, Hills are offering 3/1 that a player is dismissed during the game between Bolton and Stoke.

…………….PREMIER LEAGUE……………….

Blackpool inched closer to relegation following defeat to rivals Wigan and are now 3/10 (from 4/7) to go down. West Ham suffered last minute heartache against Aston Villa and are the 2/5 second favourites for relegation. Wigan and Wolves also share 5/6 to get relegated. At the other end of the table, despite not playing in the league, Manchester United are still 1/6 to win the league, while Arsenal are 11/2 and Chelsea 12/1.

“Following their twelfth defeat in sixteen games, Blackpool’s position looks perilous and they are now our favourites for the drop: a position they have not held since pre-season,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Red Devils Will Leave Bookies Feeling Blue

The FA Cup semi-finals kick off on Saturday as Man City play Man Utd and William Hill make the red side of the city 11/10 favourites to get through to the final. It would appear that the loss of Wayne Rooney for United is not as damaging as the loss of Carlos Tevez for City and Hills punters have been rushing in to back United, already resulting in a five figure loss. Hills favourites to reach the final are Manchester United and Bolton, offered at 17/10, while a Stoke/Manchester City final is the outsider at 7/2.

“Manchester United are firm favourites both with us and the punters and we are keeping our fingers firmly crossed for a City victory,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

WILLIAM HILL have opened a book on who will be the next Premier League player banned for swearing during a match – and have installed Joey Barton, the self-styled midfield maestro, as their 6/1 favourite, with Wayne Rooney a 15/2 chance. ‘You’d think Premier League players would learn from Rooney’s punishment – but you have to think that they’ll soon forget and one of them will fall foul of the rule again, quite possibly Wayne himself’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

MAN CITY are now 13/2 to win the Premier League title – and 11/8 to finish above United. ‘City’s display against Liverpool suggested they will be serious title contenders and that United may be hard-pressed to finish above them this season’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
But Hills now make Liverpoool odds-against at 7/4 to finish in the top four this season, and 2/5 not to. ‘All the indications are that Roy Hodgson is going to have his work cut out to restore Liverpool to the top four’ added Sharpe.
