City Lead Race For Rvp…watford In Race For 2006’s Golden Generation

Arsenal have claimed that there have been a number of bids tabled for want away striker, Robin van Persie and William Hill make Manchester City their 4/6 favourites to sign the Dutchman. Juventus are also a preferred option of van Persie’s and they are 5/2 to sign him with Manchester United 5/1. Van Persie is 5/2, however, to still be at Arsenal on the first day of the 2012/13 season.

“Arsenal appear to have given up hope of van Persie signing a new contract and now the option would be to sit back and see who makes the best bid, which looks likely to be moneybags Manchester City,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Watford are reportedly interested in signing Italian legends Alessandro del Piero & Filippo Inzaghi and William Hill make the pair both 9/2 to sign for the Hornets this transfer window. A third Italy 2006 World Cup winner has been linked with the club, Iaquinta, currently still at Juventus and he is 5/2 to sign permanently. Watford are 25/1 to win the Championship0.

Van Persie 2/1 To Still Be At Arsenal At End Of Transfer Window

Arsenal remain hopeful that Robin van Persie will remain at Arsenal, but tellingly, William Hill make the Gunners captain a shorter price to be at Manchester City at the close of the transfer window tan he is to be at Arsenal. He is 6/4 to join the Premier League champions and is 2/1 to stay put.

During the week, Sir Alex Ferguson suggested that he would be interested in signing the want away striker and Manchester United are 3/1 to win the race to sign him.

“Arsenal are hoping that van Persie does a ‘Rooney’ and stays at Arsenal, but with so many suitors and just a year left on his contract, it looks likely, he will be on the move,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Giroud 20/1 To Top Score In Debut Season

Olivier Giroud has signed for Arsenal today and the French striker is 20/1 with William Hill to take the English game by storm and be this season’s top goal scorer in the Premier League with Arsenal 6/1 to be crowned champions in May.

Giroud is Arsene Wenger’s second signing in attack this summer with Lukas Podolski already signed before Euro 2012. Podolski is 6/4 to net more goals than Giroud in his debut season with Giroud at 1/2 to outscore his German counterpart.

With all the new signings in attack thus far for The Gunners, the future of Robin Van Persie still stands in the balance. Hill’s believe the Arsenal captain could go either way with it being 5/6 he stays and 5/6 he doesn’t. If he does go, Manchester City are 6/4 to pick up the Dutchman. Juventus are 3/1, Manchester United are 6/1 and Real Madrid are quoted at 10/1.

Despite the positive signings at the Emirates, the Gunners are fancied to end up trophy less come May. William Hill have them at 1/4 to pick up no trophies, 25/1 for a Premier League and FA Cup double and 1000/1 for a clean sweep of the FA Cup, the Capital One Cup, the Premier League and the Champions League.

“Giroud is a positive signing from Wenger but whether Van Persie stays or not is vital. A bit of luck, keeping RVP, an injury free campaign and a full return to fitness and form for Jack Wilshere is still needed to convince people that Arsenal are serious challengers,” said William Hill spokesman Mark Young.

William Hill Expect To Take £100m For Euros…bookies Batten Down The Hatches

William Hill are gearing up for a potential £100m tournament with the European Championships just around the corner. Hills offered 16/1 on England (now 10/1) on Saturday and added to their liabilities of over £1m on the Three Lions, while punters have also been backing Spain (11/4), Germany (3/1) , Holland (13/2) and France (10/1).

“We are incredibly excited about this tournament and so are our punters,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “In fact, we alone are expecting to take £100m across all channels throughout the course of the Euros.”

Germany’s Mario Gomez is the 8/1 favourite to win the Golden boot and given the expansive way in which the energetic and youthful German side play, they could well reach the Final (6/4) and score plenty of goals along the way. Being banned for the first two matches of the tournament, Wayne Rooney is 33/1 to end the tournament as top goalscorer while Thomas Muller, who won the Golden Boot at the 2010 World Cup, is 25/1 to do the same in Poland and Ukraine.

England are 13/8 to be eliminated at the group stage and 15/8 to go out in the quarter finals but should there be an early exit for Roy’s boys, all English eyes will turn to one man. Howard Webb is 10/1 to referee the Final, while Scotland’s Craig Thompson is the same price.

24 Hours To Go: Football Punters Dial Up Euro Millions

William Hill are expecting a real betting boom when the European Championships kick off on Friday. The firm are predicting that £100million could be placed by the time the full time whistle blows in the Final in the Olympic Stadium in Kiev – £3million of which is expected to be staked on England’s first game on Monday. Spain are the 11/4 favourites to win the tournament with Germany 3/1. England are 12/1 fifth favourites and despite the fact that they are the longest price ever to win a major tournament, that has not stopped Hills racking up a £1million liability should Roy’s boys lift the trophy.

The Euros is the first major football tournament taking place since William Hill launched their app and they are expecting that up to £15m will be punted by mobile punters with almost 100,000 bets being placed on the England/France game via smart phone.

“Our punters have been chomping at the bit since the season ended and we have seen a steady stream of money coming in for the Euros since then,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “That steady stream is set to become a torrent in the next few days as the tournament gets going and we are expecting a nine figure turnover over the course of the next three weeks with an unprecedented 15% of that on mobile.”

On the day that England face France, Hills are expecting to take over 200,000 bets in their shops alone and could take over 50,000 bets on the match in-play equating to over £1million.

Germany’s Mario Gomez is the 8/1 favourite to win the Golden boot and given the expansive way in which the energetic and youthful German side play, they could well reach the Final (6/4) and score plenty of goals along the way. Gomez is followed in the betting by 10/1 Robin van Persie and 12/1 Cristiano Ronaldo, who had two of the most remarkable goalscoring records in world football last season. FACTS:

– William Hill expect to take over £100m on the tournament on the whole
– England’s first game could attract over £3m (£1million in-play)

Summer Of Spending At City…who Will Take The Poisoned Chalice At Liverpool…becks And Giggs Back Together

Despite winning the Premier League this season, Manchester City are on the lookout for signings that will strengthen their team even further and William Hill think that Eden Hazard, despite rumours Chelsea are his favoured destination, will be at the top of their shopping list. The Belgian is 11/10 to move to Manchester City this summer, while Robin van Persie is 6/4, Falcao is 11/8, Thiago Silva 13/8 and both Luka Modric and Hulk 15/8. Of the two best players in the world, City are 4/1 to sign Ronaldo and 12/1 to sign Messi this summer.

“Manchester City are in a position to sign just about any player they want, although it does not appear that they will aim for the crème de la crème, instead opting for slightly more realistic options,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Ryan Giggs has stated that he would love to play alongside David Beckham in the Team GB football side and Hills offer 2/1 that the pair start the first match of the Olympics for Stuart Pearce’s men (8/15 one starts and 4/1 neither do).

Every manager worth their salt appears not to want the Liverpool job at the moment and William Hill think that Roberto Martinez is the main man for the job and are now offering 11/8 that he is named as the next permanent boss at Anfield with Andre Villas Boas at 11/4.

“Liverpool do not seem to have the draw that they once did, whether that is because the targets they are going for would prefer Champions league football or whether they are worried about having to fill Kenny’s boots is hard to say,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Who will Manchester City sign this summer:

11/10 Eden Hazard
6/4 RVP
11/8 Falcao
13/8 Thiago Silva
15/8 Modric
15/8 Hulk
7/4 De Rossi
9/4 Sneijder
5/2 Chiellini
11/4 Eriksen
11/4 Kaka
3/1 Ibrahimovic
4/1 Giuseppe Rossi
4/1 Pato
4/1 C. Ronaldo
9/2 Neymar
5/1 Pique
5/1 Lahm
5/1 Robben
6/1 Ribery
7/1 Drogba
8/1 Rooney
8/1 Tiote
10/1 Iniesta
12/1 Messi
16/1 Xavi

Beckham and Giggs (both, one or none) to start first Team GB Olympic Game: 2/1 both; 8/15 one; 4/1 neither

Next permanent Liverpool manager: 11/8 Roberto Martinez; 11/4 Andre Villas Boas; 9/1 Brendan Rodgers; 10/1 Rafael Benitez; 10/1 Fabio Capello; 12/1 Louis van Gaal; 12/1 Michael Laudrup; 12/1 Frank Rikjaard; 16/1 Didier Deschamps; 20/1 Harry Redknapp; 25/1 BAR

Martinez 5/2 To Take The Crown From King Kenny

It appears likely that Kenny Dalglish will step down as manager of Liverpool today and William Hill make in-demand Wigan boss, Roberto Martinez, the 5/2 favourite to be the next boss at Anfield. Dalglish’s number two, Steve Clarke is 4/1 with Hills who also offer 5/1 Benitez, 7/1 Brendan Rodgers; 12/1 Martin O’Neill, 14/1 Andre Villas Boas and 16/1 about both Mourinho and Carlos Ancelotti.

“Despite his second stint in charge of Liverpool not quite being as successful as his first, he still remains a legend in Liverpool and his boots will be very big ones to fill,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Next Liverpool Manager: 5/2 Roberto Martinez; 4/1 Steve Clarke; 5/1 Rafael Benitez; 7/1 Brendan Rodgers; 12/1 Martin O’Neill; 14/1 Andre Villas-Boas; 16/1 Jose Mourinho; 16/1 Carlo Ancelotti; 20/1 Didier Deschamps; 20/1 Marcello Lippi; 20/1 Jurgen Klinsmann; 20/1 Paul Lambert; 25/1 BAR

RUDDY HELL! JOHN BACKED TO BE ON PLANE TO POLAND

John Ruddy, the Norwich City goalkeeper, has been backed in from 5/1 to 1/5 to make the England squad with Scott Carson’s price going the other way from 10/11 to 2/1 and David Stockdale’s going from 10/11 to 4/1.

“John Ruddy had a fantastic season, at some points singlehandedly keeping Norwich in matches and there has been quite a clamour in the last 24 hours to back him for a deserved England call up,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

With Scott Parker struggling with injury, William Hill have also cut his odds of not going to the Euros from 12/1 to 7/2. Paul Scholes could be the man to profit if Scott Parker does not make the squad, with Hills making him 6/4 for a sensational return to the England fold (1/2 he is not). Regardless of whether he makes the England squad, Scholes is 5/2 to start the game against France at the Euros (he is 2/7 not to).

CHAMPIONS SET TO GO OUT ROBIN & RAID ARSENAL AGAIN!

Manchester City have earmarked Robin van Persie as their number one summer target and William Hill offer 8/11 that the current Premier League Player of the Year has left Arsenal by the start of next season (Even money he is still there).

William Hill are offering 6/4 that Joey Barton’s ban, stemming from his incredible lack of self control against Manchester City, is 12 or more games (1/2 it is shorter).

“We were originally offering 5/6 that Joey’s ban would be shorter than eight games, but that was backed off the boards and so we had to bump up the number of games to 12,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.
