Carroll 8/13 To Leave Liverpool And 8/11 To Rejoin Newcastle

Andy Carroll is now 8/13 to leave Liverpool this summer and Newcastle have moved firmly to the top of the pile to be his next club. William Hill have made the Magpies odds-on to sign their former player at 8/11. Sam Allardyce has made no secret of his desire to sign Carroll and he is 7/2 to lure him to West Ham. Other teams in the running include Aston Villa and Fulham at 9/1 and AC Milan at 12/1.

“Newcastle appear ready to break their transfer record to get the man that they sold just 18 months ago and it is starting to look more and more likely that Andy Carroll is on his way,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Dimitar Berbatov has stated his assertion that he needs to be playing first team football and may have to move to get it. Malaga are the 7/4 favourites to sign him, although West Ham, are offered at 9/4 after they reportedly made an offer for the striker. Galatasaray have reportedly shown some interest in signing him, while AC Milan may look to replace Ibrahimovic with the mercurial United player. They are 5/1 and 8/1 respectively.

8/1 Chelsea Hold Firm At The Bridge… Are Newcastle The Most Entertaining Premier League Side Ever?

CHELSEA are up against it in their Champions League semi final with William Hill making the home side 4/1 to win the match and Barcelona odds on at 8/11 to return to the Nou Camp with the advantage. Chelsea‘s back line will have to stand firm against the predicted barrage and Hills are offering 8/1 that Roberto Di Matteo’s men win to nil.

“Punters are backing Barcelona as if they cannot lose but Chelsea have been waiting a few years for revenge and it could come on Wednesday night,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

If any Barcelona player has to be stopped, it is Lionel Messi and William Hill are offering odds on who will be the first to foul him, making Michael Essien and Raul Meireles the 6/1 joint favourites with John Terry and John Obi Mikel both 7/1. Messi is 12/5 to outscore the entire Chelsea team on Wednesday night.

To celebrate 20 years of the Premier League, the FA are doing a ’20 Seasons Of Premier League Awards’ and amongst the categories are best goal, best match and best celebration. Bookmakers, William Hill make Dennis Bergkamp (vs Newcastle 2001/02) and Paolo Di Canio (vs Wimbledon 1999/2000) the joint 9/2 favourites to win the award while Matt Le Tissier (vs Blackburn 1994/95) and Thierry Henry (vs Manchester Utd 2000/01) are 11/2 joint third favourites.

It is not just the strikers getting recognised at the awards however, as the men between the sticks are also represented by the ‘Best Save of the 20 Seasons’ Awards. Possibly the greatest ever Premier League goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel, shares 4/1 favouritism for the award with his effort against Newcastle in the 1997/98 season, with Joe Hart (vs Liverpool 2007/08) the same price. Craig Gordon (vs Bolton Wanderers 2010/11) is the 5/1 third favourite.

Newcastle are involved in the three favourites for the ‘Match of the 20 Years’ award with their 3-4 defeat to Liverpool in 1995/96 offered at 8/15 (having originally opened at 4/1). Their thrilling 4-4 comeback against Arsenal in 2010/11 is offered at 8/1 and their 5-0 victory over Manchester United in 1996/97 9/1.

“There have been some fantastic performances throughout the 20 years of the Premier League, although perhaps none as entertaining as the Liverpool win that effectively ended Newcastle’s title aspirations in 1995/96 and that match is clear favourite to win,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

20 Years Of The Premier League Awards:

Best Goal: 9/2 Dennis Bergkamp; 9/2 Paolo Di Canio; 11/2 Matt Le Tissier (vs Blackburn 94/95); 11/2 Thierry Henry; 7/1 Eric Cantona; 8/1 Alan Shearer; 8/1 Tony Yeboah; 9/1 Wayne Roney; 10/1 Matt Le Tissier (vs Newcastle 93/94); 10/1 David Beckham

Didier No Longer Top Drog But You Bet He Will Stay In January

With uncertainty surrounding the Chelsea future of Didier Drogba, William Hill think that he will stay at the club during the January transfer window offering 2/5 that he is still there on the 1st February 2012 (7/4 that he moves during that period).

“Drogba has long been the main targetman for Chelsea, however his position as top dog is under threat from some of the younger pups,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “Saying that, however, we do not think that he will bolt for the exit in January.”

Palace Travel To Old Trafford And Wednesday Europa Prices

Crystal Palace head to Old Trafford on Wednesday with the hosts 1/4 favourites with William Hill to secure a victory and the Eagles a massive 12/1 to spring an upset. With the hosts such firm favourites, Hills are offering a market on how many goals the home side will score and make two the 11/4 favourite followed by three at 3/1 but should the flood gates open, Hills make seven or more goals 33/1. Palace’s Wilfried Zaha has drawn comparisons to Lionel Messi but Hills think he has a long way to go before realising that potential and he is 4/1 to play for England before the 2014 World Cup. Zaha is 6/1 to score anytime and 16/1 to open the scoring at Old Trafford.

“Zaha will have the ultimate platform to showcase his talents although, we ultimately think that he (and his team) will struggle to score, let alone win,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Birmingham and Spurs are both taking part in the Europa League on Wednesday and while Birmingham are outsiders to win away in Braga (at 5/1) but Spurs are 2/5 to defeat PAOK Salonika at White Hart Lane. Spurs still represent England’s best prospect in this tournament and are 9/1 favourites to win the tournament.

South American Heavyweights Set To Slug It Out And England’s Women Fancied

Argentina are the 5/6 favourites with William Hill to win this Summer’s Copa America with Brazil the 2/1 second favourites. The pair are streets ahead of the third favourite, Uruguay, at 10/1. Argentina and Brazil are so fancied for the tournament that it is 2/5 for the pair to contest the final at Hills. Lionel Messi is the 7/2 favourite to be the tournament’s leading scorer while Brazil’s Fred is 9/1. Falcao, Higuain and Tevez are all 10/1.

“While some of the top sides have sent young or weaker squads to Argentina, the hosts and Brazil look as strong as ever and it appears as though they will be slugging it out for the title of best South American side,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Amidst stories that Mexico have suspended eight members of their squad, Hills have reacted by shortening the odds of their opponents in the first match. Chile have been cut from 4/6 to 4/9 for victory, while Mexico have lengthened to 11/2.

England’s Women Fancied For Knockout Berth

Fara Williams scored England’s only goal in their drab draw against Mexico and she heads the betting to be England’s lead scorer at the Women’s World Cup. She is the 2/1 favourite to do so, while Kelly Smith is the 5/2 second favourite. England have been pushed out from an initial 16/1 to 33/1 to win the tournament, although they are 1/5 to qualify from their group into the knockout stages.

“Despite the fact that the Three Lions got off to a bit of a slow start, we feel they will do exactly what is expected of them and qualify for the latter stages of the tournament with relative ease,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly

Bookies Brace For Barca Bashing, United In Support For The Reds

Despite being at Wembley, Manchester United find themselves the biggest outsider for the Champions League Final for over a decade, with no other finalist in the past 10 years priced at more than 2/1. United are offered at 3/1 with Hills, but not even that price can tempt punters, with over 80% of bets placed on a Barcelona victory at 21/20. A WILLIAM HILL online client has staked £20,000 on Real Madrid over-turning Barcelona’s two goal lead from the first leg of their Champions League semi final and knocking them out. The client took odds of 16/1 which would give him a profit of £320,000 if the bet is successful. Hills have now cut Real’s odds of going through from 16/1 to 14/1 but make Barcelona red hot favourites to reach the final at odds of 1/50. ‘This is a bold wager, which may look an inspired gamble if Jose can live up to his ‘Special One’ nickname and somehow plot the downfall of bitter rivals Barca’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

FOLLOWING the controversial scenes at the first leg of the Bareclona- Real Madrid Champions League semi, William Hill are betting on how many players Real will end up with on the pitch and offer 2/5 all eleven; 9/4 just ten; 5/1 nine or fewer.

William Hill make Jose Mourinho odds-on still to be Real Madrid boss on the first day of next season, despite his outspoken remarks after the defeat to Barcelona. ‘Most Real – and probably Chelsea and Inter – fans will empathise with Mourinho’s comments, controversial though they are. He is shrewd enough to know that, and as well as removing responsibility for defeat from himself he is also keeping the fans onside for a further stint with Real, in case those same comments may not have gone down well with potential future employers’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
