Manchester Derby: You Bet Bookies Are Ready To Batten Down The Hatches

William Hill expect the Manchester derby to attract more bets than any other Premier League game ever. In the hour before kick off, Hills predict that up to 8,000 bets will be placed on the game. Manchester City are the 5/4 favourites to win the match, with United 5/2 and the draw 2/1.

“This is without doubt the biggest Manchester Derby ever and we are expecting betting interest to go through the roof,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “We are fully expecting this to be the busiest match, in terms of bets placed, in the history of the Premier League.”

Hills are enhancing the price of both Rooney and Tevez to open the scoring both from 7/1 to 8/1. For Tevez to score and City to win is 4/1 while Rooney to score anytime and United to win is 5/1.

After the ignominy of losing 6-1 at home the last time these two sides met, United are 500/1 to return the favour, while City are 250/1 to win by the same scoreline again.

Despite the home advantage for the derby, Manchester United are 4/9 to lift the Premier League trophy, with City 7/4.

William Hill mobile is also offering a money back special to all customers whereby should your first scorer selection score second instead, you will receive your money back in the form of a free bet (up to and including the value of £50).

South American Heavyweights Set To Slug It Out And England’s Women Fancied

Argentina are the 5/6 favourites with William Hill to win this Summer’s Copa America with Brazil the 2/1 second favourites. The pair are streets ahead of the third favourite, Uruguay, at 10/1. Argentina and Brazil are so fancied for the tournament that it is 2/5 for the pair to contest the final at Hills. Lionel Messi is the 7/2 favourite to be the tournament’s leading scorer while Brazil’s Fred is 9/1. Falcao, Higuain and Tevez are all 10/1.

“While some of the top sides have sent young or weaker squads to Argentina, the hosts and Brazil look as strong as ever and it appears as though they will be slugging it out for the title of best South American side,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Amidst stories that Mexico have suspended eight members of their squad, Hills have reacted by shortening the odds of their opponents in the first match. Chile have been cut from 4/6 to 4/9 for victory, while Mexico have lengthened to 11/2.

Copa America:

Nominate the Finalist: 2/5 Argentina/Brazil; 10/1 Argentina/Chile; 10/1 Argentina/Uruguay; 14/1 Argentina/Paraguay; 20/1 Brazil/Chile; 20/1 Brazil/Uruguay;22/1 Brazil/Colombia; 50/1 Brazil/Paraguay; 50/1 Uruguay/Chile; 66/1 Argentina/Mexico; 80/1 Brazil/Mexico; 100/1 Uruguay/Mexico; 150/1 Colombia/Chile; 150/1 Colombia/Uruguay; 200/1 Colombia/Mexico

Winner: 5/6 Argentina; 2/1 Brazil; 10/1 Uruguay; 11/1 Chile; 16/1 Paraguay; 20/1 Colombia; 50/1 Mexico; 66/1 Ecuador; 80/1 Venezuela; 150/1 Bolivia; 150/1 Peru; 200/1 Costa Rica

England’s Women Fancied For Knockout Berth

Fara Williams scored England’s only goal in their drab draw against Mexico and she heads the betting to be England’s lead scorer at the Women’s World Cup. She is the 2/1 favourite to do so, while Kelly Smith is the 5/2 second favourite. England have been pushed out from an initial 16/1 to 33/1 to win the tournament, although they are 1/5 to qualify from their group into the knockout stages.

“Despite the fact that the Three Lions got off to a bit of a slow start, we feel they will do exactly what is expected of them and qualify for the latter stages of the tournament with relative ease,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly

Women’s World Cup:

England Top Scorer: 2/1 Fara Williams; 5/2 Kelly Smith; 4/1 Eniola Aluko; 9/2 Ellen White; 8/1 Karen Carney; 10/1 Rachel Yankey; others on request

WILLIAM HILL have cut their odds for Wayne Rooney to leave Manchester United during the January transfer window from 7/1 to 5/2, and have opened a book on where the England striker will be playing his football on the first day of next season – making him 1/3 still to be with United and 9/2 to have joined deadly rivals Manchester City by then. ‘City would be delighted to be able to team their other former United player Tevez with Rooney – how United fans would feel about that remains to be seen!’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe, ‘However, we still believe he is likely to stay where he is next season.’

HOWARD WEBB has been backed from 2/1 to 5/4 favourite with William Hill to officiate at the World Cup Final. ‘If Webb gets the job he’ll have cost us the most money at this tournament than Wayne Rooney – you’d probably have got a three figure price about that pre-tournament!’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
