Gb Girls Show Samba Stars How It’s Done

Hope Powell’s GB women pulled off a magnificent 1-0 victory against Brazil ensuring a quarter final with Canada on Friday. USA are 5/4 favourites for gold but GB are only just behind them at 7/2 with William Hill having been as long as 20/1 at the start of the tournament. Brazil and Japan are 11/2.

GB have now won all three games and go into the last eight with a real chance of glory. Canada sneaked into the one of the best third place qualification spots and are 13/5 to cause an upset against the hosts. GB are 4/5 for the win. Brazil are 5/4 to beat world champions Japan who are 7/4 in what, on paper looks the tie of the round.

“The record attendance for a GB women’s football match was broken at Wembley last night and the longer these girls go on the more support they will receive. Hope Powell has them well drilled and they are now well in with a chance for a medal spot at least,” said William Hill spokesman Mark Young.

Gb Living Dangerously As A Draw Will Do

Team GB square up against Uruguay on Wednesday night knowing that a draw will see them qualify from the Group. GB are the 6/4 slight favourites with William Hill. Underperforming Uruguay are 13/8 and the draw is 11/5.

Senegal are 10/11 favs to top Group A, GB an 11/10 chance to top the group and Uruguay the current outsiders at 5/1. Liverpool and Uruguay striker Luis Suarez is 6/1 to net first against GB and 7/4 any time, both prices shared by Chelsea forward Daniel Sturridge. Highly rated Napoli forward Edinson Cavani has not had the best of tournaments so far but is 13/2 to turn that around with the opener on Wednesday. Gb captain Ryan Giggs is 12/1 to open the scoring again as he did against UAE.

“It is a difficult situation for team GB as they face a top side knowing a draw will be enough. Uruguay need to win so an entertaining affair should be on the cards as the South Americans will go looking for goals in their quest for gold,” said William Hill spokesman Mark Young.

Allen Unlikely To Push Liverpool To The Summit

Liverpool have reportedly had a bid for Swansea midfielder Joe Allen rejected as Brendan Rodgers goes back to his old club to pick up the midfield maestro. He may not have signed yet but William Hill have him at 2/1 to start 26 or more games for the Anfield club this season, 11/4 between 21 and 25, 11/4 between 16 and 20 and 11/4 between 11 and 15. It is 9/2 that he starts less than ten games.

Despite Brendan Rodgers’ appointment as the Reds’ manager they are still expected to come up short in the race for Champions League football. They are 4/7 to finish between fifth and tenth, 11/5 for between second and fourth and 10/1 to finish between 11th and 17th. It is 25/1 that Liverpool win the Premier League and 80/1 that they will be playing Championship football in 2013/14.

“Allen is the kind of pace dictating midfielder that Rodgers likes in his teams and it is fully expected that Liverpool will go back to Swansea with another offer,” said William Hill spokesman Mark Young.

Gareth Bale has come in for criticism after he scored overnight to help Tottenham to a 1-1 draw at LA Galaxy despite being ruled out of the Olympics through injury. He is 1/10 to start Tottenham’s first game of the Premier League season and 11/2 he doesn’t.

Brazil Odds On For Olympic Gold As Nearest Rivals Fall

Brazil made it two wins out of two at London 2012 on Sunday. With Spain’s early elimination and Uruguay flattering to deceive the Samba Boys are currently odds on 8/13 with William Hill to win Olympic Gold.

William Hill Scottish Cup First Round Draw And Odds Unveiled

The sponsors unveiled their odds for the 2012/13 William Hill Scottish Cup following the first draw at Edinburgh Castle this afternoon.

Scottish FA Commercial Director Kenny MacLeod, last season’s winning Hearts captain Marius Zaliuskas and David Russell, William Hill Group HR Director, conducted the first round draw.

Coldstream, who had a seven hour round-trip to Wick in last season ‘Cup, face another long trip to the Highlands. ‘The Streamers’ will face Fraserburgh in the opening round of Scotland’s premier football competition.

Several games could lay claim to being the tie of the round, but the stand out fixture looks set to be the game between Irvine Meadow against Gala Fairydean. The two sides are filled with quality and it should be a rip-roaring first round tie.

Celtic are the 4/5 favourites to lift the cup, while Hearts are 8/1 with the sponsors to retain their crown.

‘The first round draw has thrown up some very juicy ties,’’ said William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny, ‘and we just can’t wait for the action to get underway.’
