Tough Draw, But Arsenal Still Favs Against Udinese

Arsenal got the toughest possible draw in the fourth round of qualifying for the Champions League as they take on Udinese. Arsenal, however are 2/9 favourites to qualify ahead of 3/1 Udinese. In the first leg match, Arsenal are 4/11 favourites, while Udinese are 6/1 and the draw is 3/1. Arsenal are 20/1 to win the Champions League.

“Udinese have shipped off their two best players and Arsenal are favourites at the moment, but with the uncertainty still surrounding the futures of Fabregas and Nasri, the match-up could be a lot closer than the initial odds suggest,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Fabregas is currently 1/4 to have left Arsenal by the end of the summer transfer window, with Barcelona his likely destination. Nasri is 6/4 to have left Arsenal in the same time frame, with Manchester City 8/13 to be his next club. Manchester United are 6/5.

England drew with Ghana and William Hill think that Fabio Capello may ring in the changes, offering 33/1 that he sticks with 10 or 11 of tonight’s starting XI for the match against Switzerland. He is Even money to keep between none and three. The midfield three consisted of Gareth Barry, James Milner and Jack Wilshere and Hills think that Milner will start the most games out of the three, offering him at 5/4, followed by Jack Wishere at 11/8. Andy Carroll scored his first England game and he is Even money to start the game against Switzerland.

United Odds-on To Progress But Beware The Away Goals

Manchester United are 1/2 with William Hill to defeat Marseille in 90 minutes on Tuesday night and are 2/7 to qualify for the Quarter Finals. Manchester United failed to score in France and have to be aware of Marseille going through on away goals, for which they are offered at 5/1. Hills are also offering 6/1 that Manchester United win the match and Wayne Rooney scores the last goal, as happened at the weekend, against Arsenal.

Hills are offering 13/20 that Manchester United manage to keep a clean sheet and 16/1 that there are six or more goals in the match.

“Fergie will have been disappointed to have not scored a goal in France although we think United will be too strong for Marseille and they can look forward to a place in the Quarters,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “However, they need to beware the away goals.”

Chelsea are 11/4 to score the fastest goal of the week against Copenhagen and are 5/2 to score the most goals. Manchester United are 9/2 to score the fastest goal and 5/1 to score the most goals.

Arsenal And Barcelona Brighten Up Dull Champions League Draw

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE LATEST ODDS………………………………………

The Champions League draw was made today and the undoubted tie of the round sees Arsenal facing Spanish Champions Barcelona. William Hill are offering 11/4 that Arsenal qualify while Barca are 1/4 to get through to the last eight. Chelsea are the shortest priced English side to qualify and they are just 1/20 to overcome FC Copenhagen.

Hills are offering 5/4 that Chelsea are the furthest progressing English side, with Manchester United 15/8. Being drawn against Barcelona in the next round has hampered Arsenal’s chances of progressing the furthest with Hills easing their odds from 7/2 to 11/2 to hold the English bragging rights. Arsenal have also drifted in the outright Champions League market from 11/1 to 20/1, while Barcelona are the 9/4 favourites. Chelsea are the 4/1 third favourites and are the shortest priced English team.

“The draw has not really inspired too much in the way of stand-out ties, except, of course, the Arsenal/Barcelona tie. It is sure to spark the imagination of our punters and could generate one of the highest turnovers for a Champions League game this year,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Hills are offering 15/2 that all four English teams progress to the quarter finals and 5/1 that this year’s final is contested between two English teams. Conversely 100/1 is the price for all four teams to be defeated in their last 16 ties.

Dire Night Of Football Brightened By Arsenal Loss…arsene 11/2 To Be Gone By Next Season

Arsenal lost tonight and Chelsea had to come from behind to win, in what were two very scrappy performances from British sides. Chelsea are the 11/8 favourites to progress furthest out of all the British teams with William Hill.

Arsenal, on the other hand, looked as though they had not recovered from their North London hangover and Hills now make them 7/2 to progress the furthest. Their odds of winning the Champions’ League have been eased from 10/1 to 12/1. Arsenal’s defeat saved bookies paying out a fair old wedge but should their current run of poor form continue, Arsene Wenger could find himself under pressure and Hills are offering 11/2 that he has left by the first game of next season. The Gunners are now level on points with tonight’s conquerors and Hills are offering 10/1 that Arsenal fail to qualify for the latter stages of the competition.

“It was a rather underwhelming evening of football but despite this, we are still smiling as Arsenal have saved us a small fortune. We may have numb bums, but we are still happy,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

William Hill Champions’ League Odds:

Outright: 11/4 Real Madrid; 11/4 Barcelona; 4/1 Chelsea; 9/1 Man Utd; 12/1 Arsenal; 16/1 Bayern Munich; 20/1 Internazionale; 20/1 AC Milan; 25/1 Tottenham; 50/1 BAR

British Team To Progress The Furthest: 11/8 Chelsea; 21/10 Man Utd; 7/2 Arsenal; 6/1 Tottenham; 33/1 Rangers

Arsene Wenger To Still Be At Arsenal On First Day Of Next Season: 1/10 Yes; 11/2 No

British Teams In Final: 4/5 One; 7/5 None; 11/2 Two

Arsenal To Qualify From Group H: 1/33 Yes; 10/1 No

Champion’s League Final Odds On To Feature A British Team!

Two relatively easy victories for Chelsea and Arsenal tonight have lead William Hill to shorten both teams’ odds of winning this year’s Champion’s League. Chelsea are now 4/1 joint second favourites, having been 9/2 at the start of play and Arsenal, following their demolition of Shakhtar, are priced at 10/1, cut from 11/1.

Hills are also offering odds of 5/6 that there is one British representative in the Champion’s League Final. For an all British affair, Hills are offering 11/2.

“The two teams in action tonight were so impressive in the nature of their victory, it would not be surprising for either of them to make the final,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Chelsea are the 7/5 favourites to be the furthest advancing British team in this year’s competition with Manchester United priced at 9/4.

William Hill Champion’s League Odds:

Outright: 11/4 Barcelona; 4/1 Chelsea; 4/1 Real Madrid; 10/1 Manchester United; 10/1 Arsenal; 14/1 Inter Milan; 14/1 Bayern Munich; 25/1 AC Milan; 28/1 Tottenham; 40/1 Lyon; 50/1 BAR

British Teams In The Final: 11/8 None; 5/6 Exactly One; 11/2 Two

British Team To Advance The Furthest: 7/5 Chelsea; 9/4 Manchester United; 5/2 Arsenal; 15/2 Tottenham; 33/1 Rangers

You Bet Rooney On Wayne Out !

YOU BET WAYNE TO GO

WILLIAM HILL have cut their odds for Wayne Rooney to leave Manchester United during the January transfer window from 7/1 to 5/2, and have opened a book on where the England striker will be playing his football on the first day of next season – making him 1/3 still to be with United and 9/2 to have joined deadly rivals Manchester City by then. ‘City would be delighted to be able to team their other former United player Tevez with Rooney – how United fans would feel about that remains to be seen!’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe, ‘However, we still believe he is likely to stay where he is next season.’
