Rio Odds On To Never Don The Three Lions Again

The decision to leave Rio Ferdinand out of the England squad, despite the catalogue of injuries, has stirred consternation amongst the masses and William Hill think that this could be the final nail in the long serving defender’s international coffin. He is 4/9 to never play for England again and 4/1 to announce his international retirement before the start of the 2012/13 Premier League season.

“Rio is a veteran of over 80 England caps but it looks like he will fail to add to his impressive tally,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Hills are now betting on when Ferdinand will retire from football completely and offer 10/1 that he does so this year. Ferdinand fans need not worry, however as the odds of 6/4 suggest it is much more likely he is still playing in 2015.

“Players often add a couple of years to their playing careers by retiring from international football and Rio’s omission could be a blessing in disguise,” said Crilly.

Rio Ferdinand to announce his international retirement before the start of the 2012/13 Premier League season: 4/1

Rio Ferdinand to play for England again: 4/9 no; 13/8 yes

What year will Rio Ferdinand retire from professional football: 10/1 2012; 15/8 2013; 13/8 2014; 6/4 2015 or later

Torres Odds-on To Fill Drogba’s Boots, Hulk 4/1 To Do So

Didier Drogba has announced his intention to leave Chelsea and William Hill are betting on who will start Chelsea’s first game of next season and make Fernando Torres 1/2 to fill the Drogba shaped hole on Chelsea’s front line. Other names thrown into the mix are Lukaku 11/4, Hulk 4/1, Falcao and Cavani both 6/1, Llornete at 12/1 and Lavezzi 14/1.

“Drogba has been the big-Drog at Chelsea for the last eight years and whoever fills the gap has very big boots to fill and although Torres has struggled since moving to Chelsea, the odds suggest that he will be taking up the reins,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

To start for Chelsea first game of 2012/2013 PL Season

No Yes
Fernando Llorente 1/50 12/1
Ezequiel Lavezzi 1/66 14/1

Radamel Falcao 1/12 6/1

Blackpool Hit By Hammer Blow…irons Odds On To Stay Up

West Ham won the ‘Richest Game In English Football’ and earned themselves a place at the top table once again and William Hill now make The Hammers 8/11 to survive in the Premier League next season (Evens to go down). There always has to be one unlucky side in the Playoffs and Blackpool were that side on Saturday. Their fans should take heart however, as they are 5/1 to go up next season and 16/1 to win the league.

“West Ham are back where they feel they belong and it looks like their stay will be more than one season,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Blackpool 2012/13 Season: 16/1 Win the Championship;

West Ham 2012/13 season: 8/11 stay up; 1/1 relegated; 2000/1 win the League

Championship outright: 6/1 Leicester City; 8/1 Bolton Wanderers; 8/1 Wolves; 10/1 Birmingham; 11/1 Cardiff; 14/1 Brighton; 14/1 Leeds; 16/1 Blackburn; 16/1 Blackpool; 20/1 BAR

Drogba Backed To Stay At Chelsea But Who Else Is Sniffing Around?

Didier Drogba may be out of contract at Chelsea, but William Hill do not think that necessarily mean that the talismanic striker will be leaving Stamford Bridge, offering Even money that he starts next season at the Blues. Barcelona have reportedly targeted Drogba and have said they would be willing to offer a two year contract to the player and they are the 2/1 second favourites to take the Ivorian for the start of next season. Hills also offer 5/1 that he signs for Real Madrid and the same price that he goes to PSG. Another option could be for him to join his former teammate, Nicolas Anelka in China and he is 6/1 to sign for a side over there, while Manchester City are 12/1.

“Despite his advancing years, Drogba is still coveted by the top teams around the world and should Chelsea fail to offer him what he wants, there will be no lack of suitors for him this summer,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

William Hill Odds:

Didier Drogba club at the start of next season: 1/1 Chelsea; 2/1 Barcelona; 5/1 Real Madrid; 5/1 PSG; 12/1 Manchester City

John Terry 1/4 To Miss Out On Euros Squad

John Terry will have woken the morning after possibly his worst performance in a Chelsea shirt, to see that his place in the England Euros squad is no certainty. William Hill make him just 1/4 to fail to make Roy Hodgson’s final 23 for Poland and the Ukraine. There are many saying that Terry and Rio Ferdinand will not be able to play in the same team and it would appear that Rio is the favoured candidate at the moment with Hills making him 4/11 to make the squad.

“This is the first real issue that Hodgson has had to deal with in his role as England manager and the odds suggest that Rio will get the nod for the Euros with Terry missing out,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

The last few games have seen somewhat of a renaissance for Andy Carroll and he is 5/6 to make the Euros squad while his manager went some way towards appeasing the Anfield faithful with Liverpool’s 4-1 win over Chelsea and he is 1/2 to be in charge of Liverpool on the first day of next season.

Will John Terry be in England’s Euro 2012 squad: 1/4 no; 11/4 yes

Will Rio Ferdinand be in England’s Euro 2012 squad: 4/11 yes; 2/1 no

Will Andy Carroll be in England’s Euro 2012 squad: 5/6 yes; 5/6 no

Will Kenny Dalglish be in charge of Liverpool on the first day of next season: 1/2 yes; 6/4 no
