Favourite Stats – National Hunt Racing

Knowing how favourites fare at different courses and for certain race types
is pretty useful information to be aware of before you place a bet.

If you fancy a favourite and the stats favourite back it up then you can go
at it with increased confidence.

On the other hand in situations where long term stats indicate favourites to
be poor value investments

you can perhaps lay the favourite or oppose it with a longer odds selection.

As a general rule the more you know, the more informed horse
betting
decisions you will be making.

Dave from RacingTrends has provided us with the below for today’s National
Hunt race meetings.

It is just a small snippet from a much more comprehensive horse racing stats
email his clients receive daily.

Lingfield Strong Stat

Below is a snippet from The Mathematician’s much larger message for today.

It’s from a little section he calls “Strongest Statistic Today”.

In short not an official tip.

Just extra info gleaned from his research.

—————————-

Strongest Statistic Today

Lingfield 5.05

I suppose my best statistic has to involve the
favourite NEWS DESK at 5.05pm but she is a
short price and it wasn’t a bet I wanted to have.

* Fillies winning 10f handicaps last time
* Under 7 career starts
* 1-2 runs this season
* 8st 9lbs or more
* These horses had a W W W W record
* NEWS DESK shares that profile

————————————————–

Adding some extra insight of my own on this one:

Newsdesk was originally anticipated to be around the 6/4 mark.

It has been a bit of a drifter however and you can now get as much as

5/2  at s  james

The movers in that market so far have been second favourite Santadelcruz now about 3/1.

Also Kings Wharf which has been a  bit of a big priced steamer now cut to 9/1 max at William Hill.

It’s a good example of the pondering a punter must do.

Does one follow the market moves or play value hunting contrarian happily taking a much larger than expected price about a strong stat horse ?

Scots Betting On Independence Yes Vote

Cameron speech prompts ‘yes’ bets as:
SCOTS BETTING ON INDEPENDENCE YES VOTE

William Hill have cut their odds from 3/1 to 5/2 that the Scots will vote in favour of independence when they get the opportunity to do so in a Referendum. And Hills offer 4/11 that the Referendum will take place in 2014 – and 7/1 that the country will become independent by 2020.
‘Although the betting suggests an ultimate ‘no’ to independence at any Referendum, the money we have taken is almost all for a ‘yes’ vote- and every bet struck since David Cameron spoke on the issue has been for ‘yes’.’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Hills OFFER 2/5 THAT ONLY THOSE AGED 18 OR OVER WILL BE PERMITTED TO VOTE IN THE REFERENDUM, 7/4 THAT THE AGE LIMIT WILL BE LOWERED FROM THAT.

William Hill…..
