Lampard 5/6 To Reach 100 Caps…qpr Becks Appeal Shrinking

Frank Lampard led by example as England defeated Spain and he has now targeted 100 caps for England. The midfielder, who took his tally to 90 on Saturday is 5/6 with William Hill to join the 100 club (5/6 not to).

QPR have seemingly given up in the race to sign David Beckham and William Hill have eased their odds to 8/1 (from 6/1). Paris Saint Germain are the 4/9 favourites to secure Beckham’s signature, while Tottenham are the 5/1 second favourites. Beckham is 4/7 to join up with the GB squad for the 2012 Olympics and Hills make Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey 1/8 and 1/5 respectively to feature in the Olympic squad.

“Bale and Ramsay have already appeared in the promotional photos for the launching of the GB kit and with Wales not playing in the Euros, it now seems almost impossible to imagine that they will not join up with the squad in London,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

David Beckham next club: 4/9 PSG; 5/1 Spurs; 8/1 QPR; 9/1 Anzhi; 10/1 Blackburn; 12/1 Aston Villa; 16/1 AC Milan; 33/1 Real Madrid…others on request

Frank Backed To Start As England Reign Over Spain

England were priced at 7/2 with William Hill to win against the World Champions who were the first odds on team to face the Three Lions at the new Wembley. Darren Bent set up the winner and, in the absence of Rooney is 4/7 to start England’s first match.

Spain remain the 5/2 favourites to win the Euros next summer while England are 11/1 joint fifth favourites.

“We are not going to get too carried away and suddenly make England favourites for the Euros but a result like that could possibly tempt a few more punters to have a go at our 11/1,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Capello will be taking charge of England for the last time in Poland and the Ukraine with Harry Redknapp the favourite to take the reins after him. His odds have drifted from 8/11 to 7/4 but he is still quite away ahead of Martin O’Neill and Arsene Wenger who are the 8/1 second favourites.

Gutsy Scottish Punter Burns Bookies To The Tune Of £39,000

Bookmakers William Hill were burned by an Ayrshire punter who made a profit of £39,000 by backing Scotland to defeat Cyprus to the tune of £30,000. The gutsy punter walked into an Ayrshire shop and placed the bet at odds of 13/10 and in doing so, placed the biggest ever bet that Hills have taken on Scotland to win a match.

“When we heard about the bet, we were very surprised as this unknown Scottish punter was willing to risk such a large stake on a nothing friendly, but Craig Levein’s men have done the job and in the process, more than doubled this punter’s cash,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Newcastle Odds On Not To Find Ground Sponsor

ASHLEY ODDS-ON TO FAIL TO FIND ST JAMES’ SPONSOR!

WITH MIKE ASHLEY SET TO SELL naming rights to Newcastle’s St James’ Park, bookmakers William Hill have opened a book on whether those rights will actually be sold, and what the ground will be known as.
Hills believe it is unlikely that a stadium name sponsor will come forward and offer 4/7 that the ground name has either NOT changed at all by the first day of next season, or is still known as the Sports Direct Arena.
‘It is one thing putting the naming rights up for grabs, another getting the right deal – and Mr Ashley could conceivably even have changed his mind and sold the club by then’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Hill’s make Tesco the most likely sponsor’s name to be added to the ground name, quoting the supermarket chain at 10/1, and also offering:
O2 – 12/1
Northern Rock 20/1
Greggs 33/1

16/1 England Match To Be Called Off In Fifa Poppy Row

16/1 ENGLAND MATCH TO BE CALLED OFF IN FIFA POPPY ROW
Bookmakers William Hill – who are donating profits from their ‘Poppy Shirt’ markets to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal – have lengthened their odds about England playing the game in shirts adorned with poppies, from 7/2 to 9/2 and go 1/8 that they will not do so. ‘It seems unlikely that the FA will go so far as to disobey FIFA as blatantly as permitting the wearing of poppies on the shirts’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
FIFA have also indicated that the referee will have the authority to cancel the game if he is not happy with any aspect of England’s kit, and William Hill now offer 16/1 that the game will not take place, although they are 1/100 for it to go ahead.

Carlos’ Argie Jaunt Could See Tevez Out Of The Door…foxes Snare Pearson

Following Carlos Tevez’s unscheduled break to Argentina, William Hill offer 1/3 that he leaves Manchester City during the January transfer window, whether permanently or on loan. The favourite to sign him is Juventus with the Old Lady 11/4 to be the next club to capture Tevez’s signature. Former club, Corinthians, are 4/1 while the two Milan sides, Inter and AC are both offered at 6/1.

“There is no doubting that Carlos Tevez is a brilliant player but any club who signs him will be doing so in the knowledge that they will probably be stuck with all his baggage as well,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Roberto Mancini has claimed that Tevez can play again for Manchester City if only he apologises for his recent behaviour but Hills do not think that is likely and he is just 1/6 to start a Premier League game for City this season.

Leicester Latest

Leicester City are expected to announce the signing of Nigel Pearson as their manager later today and William Hill offer 3/1 that he gets them promoted at the first time of asking. Given Leicester City’s reputation for sacking managers, should things not improve at the King Power Stadium, Pearson could be given his marching orders and Hills offer 7/1 that he will not be manager come the final day of the season (1/16 to still be there).

Carlos Tevez Specials:
Next Permanent Club: 11/4 Juventus; 4/1 Corinthians; 6/1 AC Milan; 6/1 Inter Milan; 7/1 Real Madrid; 8/1 PSG; 10/1 Boca Juniors; 12/1 Napoli; 16/1 Chelsea; 16/1 West Ham; 20/1 Arsenal; 20/1 Barcelona

Carlos Tevez to leave Manchester City in January transfer window*: 1/3 Yes; 9/4 No
*Loan Deals count

To start another 11/12 Premier League match for Manchester City: 7/2 Yes; 1/6 No

Nigel Pearson to still be in charge of Leicester for the last game of the season: 1/16 yes; 7/1 no

William Hill Pay Out On Poppy Compromise

WILLIAM HILL PAY OUT ON POPPY COMPROMISE……

WITH FIFA reportedly permitting England to play against Spain wearing armbands with the poppy emblem on them, bookmakers William Hill, who were betting on whether they would be allowed to sport the poppy during the game or not, are paying out to those who bet that they would, (at odds of 1/6 to 1/8) and also to those who bet they wouldn’t at odds of up to 9/2. ‘This is a classic compromise by FIFA, allowing both sides to claim victory and deny defeat, and as a case can be made for those who bet either yes or no to be winners we have decided to pay out to both.’ said William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe.
AND WILLIAM HILL HAVE ALSO ANNOUNCED THAT THEY WILL BE HANDING OVER A £5000 PAYMENT TO THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION POPPY APPEAL. ‘We said we’d give the Poppy appeal our winnings – but as we are paying out on both options there won’t be any! So we have decided to make a donation of £5000 to the Appeal instead’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

WM HILL POPPY SPECIALS STILL AVAILABLE:
