COULD STEVE BRUCE BE THE NEXT FERGIE?

WITH SUNDERLAND taking on Manchester United this weekend William Hill are offering 12/1 that Sunderland boss Steve Bruce will succeed Sir Alex Ferguson as the next United boss. He is also 10/1 to be the next England manager with Hills who make Harry Redknapp 2/1 favourite.

And Hills are betting on when Sir Alex will cease to be manager at Old Trafford and make 2011 their 5/4 favourite.

‘It is the eternal guessing game – when will Sir Alex quit, and who will replace him. It may not happen any time soon – but even Sir Alex cannot go on forever – can he!?’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

15/1 Giant Killer Cup Replay

The stand out tie of the Carling Cup Fourth Round sees Arsenal travel to St. James’ Park to face Newcastle. Arsenal are the 8/11 favourites to progress to the next round.

The giant killers from the third round, Brentford and Northampton are up against it again, against Birmingham and Ipswich away respectively. The pair are 15/1 to repeat their third round heroics and progress to the Fifth Round.

Manchester United are the 2/1 favourites to lift the trophy, while Arsenal are 5/2 second favourites with Aston Villa 13/2.

“With some of the big names having already been dumped out of the competition already, Arsenal and United will be looking to get their hands on the first silverware of the season,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Three Robertos Conjure Miracles To Keep Bookies Smiling

Bookies were celebrating as their fine start to the season continued with shocks and upsets all over the country. Arsenal losing at home to West Brom was the biggest shock of the weekend with almost 95% of punters on the game placing their wagers on an Arsenal victory. West Brom have also been eased to 9/4 from 11/8 for relegation following today’s result.

Despite losing for the first time this season, Chelsea are still the 10/11 favourites to win the Premier League this season with William Hill. Manchester City are 4/11 to finish in the top four with Arsenal priced at 1/6, Manchester United 1/25 and Chelsea 1/100.

“The three Robertos performed minor miracles today and we will be making sure that they are all put on our Christmas card list this year,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Merseyside Misery
Liverpool’s disastrous start to the season continued, failing to win again, and Roy Hodgson’s odds of being the next manager out of a job have shortened from 10/1 to 8/1. Everton are now rooted to the bottom of the Premier League and David Moyes is just 15/2 to be the next manager to leave their club. At the start of the season, Hodgson was 28/1 and Moyes was 33/1 to be the first manager to go.

“At the start of the season, Moyes and Hodgson had two of the best reputations in the business. It could well be that they jump before they have their names dirtied by any more poor results,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Will Motd Introduce New Talking Heads?

************WILLIAM HILL MOTD….MONEYBAGS’ DERBY SPECIALS**********

WILL MOTD INTRODUCE NEW TALKING HEADS?
WITH Match of the Day coming under some criticism for the recent quality of its punditry, William Hill have opened a book on a number of potential replacements for the existing panel, offering odds about whether they will be invited to guest/appear on the show before the end of the season. And Hills reckon that the ever newsworthy Robbie Savage is the most likely to turn up on the sofa – quoting him at 5/2 to do so. ‘You’d imagine that if the powers that be at MOTD are looking to audition for new pundits the best way of doing so would be by trying them out on the programme – so we’ve made Savage favourite, closely followed by Martin O’Neill and Phil Brown, both of whom would appear to have few other things to be doing if asked!’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
AND HILLS HAVE ALSO OPENED A BOOK ON WHICH MATCHES WILL BE SHOWN FIRST AND LAST ON THIS SATURDAY’S MOTD:

Paul The Octopus And Premier League Specials

PAUL THE OCTOPUS TIPPING ENGLAND AT LAST!

William Hill have trimmed the price of England being chosen to host the 2018 World Cup from 11/10 to Even money after support for the bid following Paul the Octopus’ prediction that they will win the bid. Hills think that the biggest danger to the England bid will be Russia at 7/4, with Spain & Portugal 9/2 then 12/1 Belgium & Holland.’After Paul’s sensational success during the World Cup itself many punters who profited from his predictions there genuinely seem to believe that he is infallible.’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

PUNTERS PILE ON ROONEY DROUGHT TO CONTINUE

WILLIAM HILL have cut their odds for Wayne Rooney’s goal drought to continue into Manchester United’s match at Fulham this weekend from 6/5 to 10/11. ‘We put up 6/5 for Wayne to fail to score against Fulham initially, but have been forced to trim that to 10/11 after some one-sided betting. We are now 4/5 from 8/13 that he WILL score’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

BLACKPOOL 150/1 TO STAY UNDEFEATED LONGEST!
WILLIAM HILL have opened a book on which Premier League side will remain undefeated the longest – and make Chelsea 7/4 favourites, with Blackpool and Wolves the 150/1 outsiders. ‘The vagaries of the fixture system make this a tricky market to predict but the predictable big names are the front-runners’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

AND WHO WILL BE LAST TO WIN A MATCH?

Hills have also opened a book on which team will be the LAST to win a Premier League game this season, and make Wigan 3/1 favourites, with Arsenal the 66/1 outsiders. ‘This is the race no team wants to win as it usually suggests relegation is a real prospect’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

BOOKIES RUNNING SCARED OF BLACKPOOL

BLACKPOOL fans have staked so many bets on their side to WIN the Premier League title this season that William Hill have had to slash their odds by a record EIGHT THOUSAND points in their betting – and now offer them at 2000/1 to win the title, having opened their book at 10,000/1. ‘We now face our biggest ever Premier League loss of OVER £5million if Blackpool somehow manage to win the League after hundreds of fans backed their side -albeit none of them risked more than a tenner’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.’We won’t be losing much sleep over the prospect of that five million loss – at least, not until Blackpool win their first half dozen matches!’
Meanwhile, Hills say that they are in the bizarre position of wanting the reigning champions to do well this season, as they have taken very little cash for Chelsea to win the title again – and they currently represent the BEXT possible outcome for them. ‘We will win a hefty sum if Chelsea retain the title as the betting stands at the moment’ added Sharpe.
The second worst result for Hills would be a title triumph for Aston Villa – ‘most of those bets were struck before O’Neill walked out’- while Manchester United would be the third worst result for them, as they have attracted the largest bets so far – one of £10,000 froma Glasgow-based punter and a £6000 bet from a Norwich client.
