Bookies Brace For Barca Bashing, United In Support For The Reds

Despite being at Wembley, Manchester United find themselves the biggest outsider for the Champions League Final for over a decade, with no other finalist in the past 10 years priced at more than 2/1. United are offered at 3/1 with Hills, but not even that price can tempt punters, with over 80% of bets placed on a Barcelona victory at 21/20. Hills are also offering over 100 in play markets and think that it could be the first time in history that in-play bets exceed pre-match wagers.

“Over the years Manchester United have caused us a fair amount of pain, but they will save us millions if they manage to beat Barcelona on Saturday night,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Hills are expecting a £10 million industry wide turnover making this the biggest game since the World Cup Final last year.

Lionel Messi is the 5/1 favourite to score the first goal of the match, while David Villa is 7/1. Wayne Rooney is 8/1 with Pedro and Hernandez both 9/1.

William Hill have a number of specials available for this weekend’s match and offer 25/1 that Patrice Evra will score and Manchester United lift the trophy (Happy Evra After) and 22/1 that Gerard Pique scores from outside the area (Pique That One Out).

British Punters Punt With Their Heads As Barca Well Backed

Over 80% of all outright bets placed on this year’s Champions League Final at William Hill have been placed on Barcelona, despite the firm dangling the carrot of top priced Manchester United for punters.

“Not even the 3/1 that we are offering about Manchester United can tempt the punters to punt any way other than a Barca win,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Hills are offering a patriotic punt with two of the sporting calendar’s biggest fixtures taking place this weekend. Manchester United to lift the Champions League and Hamilton or Button to win the Monaco Grand Prix is offered at 10/1.

Barcelona are 21/10 to win in 90 minutes, while the draw is offered at 21/10. Hills offer 5/1 that the match is decided on penalties while either side can be backed to win on penalties at 11/1. The match is 9/2 to be decided in extra time.

The Champions League Final is second only to the World Cup Final as the highest turnover football match in the world and Hills are expecting the betting industry to take over £10 million on Saturday.

Will The Champions League Be Carrickter Building Or Will There Be A Klangerroo?

William Hill have released a number of specials for this weekend’s Champions League final. One market of which is who will be the first player to tweet after the game. The 2/5 favourite is serial tweeter, Rio Ferdinand, while Wayne Rooney, who is still relatively new to Twitter is the 5/2 second favourite. Michael Owen is 8/1.

“Rio is a devoted tweeter and there is no doubt that he should be the favourite, although Wayne Rooney is quickly catching him up in terms of tweets and followers and he will be keen to get one up on Rio come Saturday,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Hills offer 8/1 that Park Ji-Sung scores but does not win man of the match, entitled Un-Sung Hero, while 50/1 is offered for Danny Alves to score in both halves –A Game Of Two ‘Alves.

Hills are expecting an industry wide turnover of £10 million to be staked on the game, for which Manchester United are the 3/1 outsiders. Barcelona go into the game as the 21/20 favourites, while the draw is 21/10 all in 90 minutes. United are 13/8 to lift the trophy, while Barcelona are 1/2.

“We expect our turnover to be up this year for a number of reasons, namely, the game is on a Saturday, there is an English team involved and the two sides competing are the Champions of arguably the two best leagues in the world,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

William Hill Odds:

Que? You Bet Manuel For United!

Manchester United are 4/9 to win against Schalke on Wednesday with William Hill. The German side are 7/1. Manchester United could have scored a hatful during last Tuesday’s clash but for Schalke’s Manuel Neuer and Hills offer 7/1 that the Reds score 4 or more goals. United had 10 shots on target last week and Hills offer 6/4 that they have more attempts than that during Wednesday’s game. Sir Alex Ferguson congratulated Neuer following his performance in Gelsenkirchen and he is 11/2 to start Manchester United’s first game next season between the sticks.

“Neuer reminded many of a young Peter Schmeichel, especially Sir Alex, for whom the resemblance has not gone unnoticed,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Red Devils Will Leave Bookies Feeling Blue

The FA Cup semi-finals kick off on Saturday as Man City play Man Utd and William Hill make the red side of the city 11/10 favourites to get through to the final. It would appear that the loss of Wayne Rooney for United is not as damaging as the loss of Carlos Tevez for City and Hills punters have been rushing in to back United, already resulting in a five figure loss. Hills favourites to reach the final are Manchester United and Bolton, offered at 17/10, while a Stoke/Manchester City final is the outsider at 7/2.

“Manchester United are firm favourites both with us and the punters and we are keeping our fingers firmly crossed for a City victory,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.
